Yes, it's been a while. A long while, as usual. The last time I wrote I was quitting my job and starting to work for myself. Turns out my new boss keeps me pretty busy

But it's been great, has its ups and downs like any other job. For example: Yes, I get to sleep in and work in my comfy pants.
But I miss buying nice clothes. Now when I go buy nice clothes I have to seriously think about whether or not I'll ever where it anywhere. You know, like clothes that is too workish to wear dancing but still cute in a real preppy way? Yesterday I went to Publix at 4:30 with my hair all nice and blush and eyeliner and this cute top that I didn't realize showed too much cleavage until the deli guy was like oooooohh...but I do get to do groceries whenever I want (I like 10 a.m.) and I've made some odd discoveries. Like at 5 it's impossible to find a single male actually shopping. They're all women, moms, etc...And you know when you work in an office and you spend your down time pretending to be productive while in actuality you're on DA or myspace or whatever floats your boat? If I do that I feel really really guilty. I once took a nap during that downtime. I felt terrible and it turns out in my old age if I take a nap during the day I can't sleep at night. That's what I get for slacking! I do try to keep normal hours..9ish to 5ish, sometimes 6ish if I'm on deadline. And I take a lunch hour too, usually with the TV in the background (takes me back to my childhood! You'd be surprised how many 90s sitcoms are syndicated during the daytime!).

The cool thing is that since I have a couple of pubs that I work for regularly and sections that I'm in charge of each issue I know when my deadlines are each month. They almost ALWAYS lump together, which sucks but then leaves me with great downtime to work on my fiction. Right now I am (crosses fingers) almost done with my first draft of a new novel I started two months ago. I can't wait to print it out on my laser printer (is it odd that I love a printer so damn much?) and go through it in red ink and revise the crap out of it!!!

And then there's the wedding!! It's officially set for Nov. 15, 2008. We had originally thought Feb. 08 but we realized that that was quite soon and there's a lot of other things we need to focus on right now. But we have a venue reserved, we have a caterer 99% sure we're gonna go with him, we know we want cupcakes instead of a wedding cake and I'm making the invites myself! I've been having so much fun playing with papers and designs and stuff! No luck on the dress yet, though...
